Unkempt Herald was formed by Dave Gurgick, Jesse Salinas, and Ronstin Smith in Bloomfield N.J. in 2013. They spent a year practicing writing and trying to hone their style. To that effort they built a studio, bought gear and set to work. Unkempt Herald created a style that is both musically diverse and lyrically thoughtful. By the summer of 2014 they released their debut E.P. “Squalidus Praeco”which was followed by their first full length album “Diatribe” which released summer of 2015. They recently released their second E.P. self titled “Unkempt Herald” (summer 2016) and their second full length album “Kegare” mid October 2016. After the release of kegare Unkempt Herald faced extreme tragedy when their singers teenage daughter committed suicide. After taking time to heal and reflect Unkempt Herald have returned with "Kiddo". Unkempt Herald’s album “KIDDO” is dedicated to Eva Magdalena Smith who lost her battle with depression on December 16, 2016 at 10:45 pm. She was 15 years old. Eva was a bright light that burned out far too soon and left her pain for the world to hold in her stead. Eva is survived by her Father Aaron, Stepmother Stefanie, and baby sister Amelia.
